Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an official release.

Launch products are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players come in.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider market, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Players use abilities to assemble a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the campaign launch.
