Manchester United Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League side.
Her exit from Munich was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the club's fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top strikers. According to reports, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost United's Forward Line
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the American league, said: “You can sense how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
