Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
